NHAI restored two-lane traffic at Ladha and Samroli on National Highway 44 after an overnight landslide blocked the carriageway. Crews worked through the night to clear fallen earth, rock and vegetation and to reopen both directions for light and heavy vehicles following engineering safety checks. Movement was resumed on Thursday with traffic management measures in place to prevent build up and ensure an orderly flow.

Road clearance operations involved excavators, dumpers and grading equipment operated by highway teams and contractors, while engineers carried out visual and instrument inspections of cut slopes and adjoining terrain. Police and highway patrol assisted with lane control, escorting larger vehicles and enforcing temporary restrictions where required. Temporary signboards, reflective markers and warning lights were installed to guide motorists through the cleared section.

The authority reported that no casualties were recorded and that residual loose material was removed before reopening to reduce risk to passing traffic. Repair teams also cleared drainage lines and stabilised small loose patches, while identifying locations for further intervention and reinforcement work. Officials emphasised ongoing monitoring of the corridor to detect any fresh movement and to schedule necessary remedial action.

The reopening has already eased congestion on alternative roads that had been used while the main carriageway was blocked, offering relief to commuters and freight operators reliant on the route. Motorists were advised to observe reduced speeds, follow instructions from traffic personnel and allow extra time for journeys in the near term. Coordination between the highway authority and local administration will continue until permanent slope stabilisation measures are completed. Travel advisories have been issued through radio and highway display boards to inform motorists of any delays.
