NHAI To Install QR Signboards On National Highways

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced on 3 October 2025 that it will install project information signboards with Quick Response (QR) codes along stretches of the National Highway network to provide commuters with essential information and emergency helpline numbers.
According to an official statement, the vertical QR code signboards will display project-specific details, including the National Highway number, highway chainage, and contact numbers for the highway patrol, toll manager, resident engineer, and the 1033 emergency helpline.
The signboards will be strategically placed at wayside amenities, rest areas, toll plazas, truck lay-byes, highway start and end points, and near directional signage to ensure maximum visibility and accessibility.
NHAI said the initiative will enhance road safety by offering quick access to emergency assistance and local information. It will also improve user experience and increase public awareness about the national highway system across India.
By incorporating digital connectivity with physical infrastructure, the new signboards are part of NHAI’s broader effort to modernise highway management, ensure traveller convenience, and strengthen road safety standards nationwide.
