NHAI's Diverse Approach to Tackle Monsoon Issues

NHAI, a state-owned entity, has launched several initiatives to enhance flood preparedness and emergency response mechanisms on national highways ahead of the monsoon season, according to an official statement released.

The statement revealed that NHAI is employing a comprehensive strategy covering both hilly and plain regions. It emphasised that NHAI's field offices are closely collaborating with state administrations to inspect national highway stretches. Dedicated emergency response teams have been formed at these offices, equipped with necessary manpower and machinery to handle landslide-prone areas.

Plans have been devised in conjunction with district administrations to create alternative diversion routes at locations where traffic might be disrupted by significant landslides. NHAI has also initiated real-time geotechnical monitoring at vulnerable slopes and tunnels on a trial basis, which further enhances their readiness.

Overall, NHAI's proactive measures aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and effective response to potential natural disasters during the upcoming monsoon period.
