According to an official, the updated toll prices for drivers on national roads throughout the nation went into effect on Monday. The tolls have increased by an average of 5%, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The state-owned organisation, NHAI, determines new prices each year by taking into account a number of factors, including the raise, a senior NHAI official told PTI.

It goes into effect on April 1st of each year, although this year's implementation was postponed because of the general elections. This time, the average rise was 5%. The official stated that the updated user charge is now in effect.

Every year, the toll rate is adjusted to reflect variations in inflation based on the wholesale price index (CPI). On the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, user fees are collected at about 855 user fee plazas on the network of national highways. About 675 of them are fee plazas that are supported by the government, while 180 are run by concessionaires.
