Commuters on the Pataudi Highway, particularly between the Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur, are set to get relief as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has confirmed that a seven-kilometre alternative stretch will be operational by 31 August. The under-construction segment is part of the 46.1 km Pataudi Highway project aimed at improving connectivity between Gurugram, Pataudi, and Rewari.

The Rs 9.5 billion project is designed to offer a faster, congestion-free alternative to the existing Pataudi Road, which passes through Harsaru, Hayatpur, and Wazirpur. It includes 81 culverts, 23 vehicular underpasses, one railway overbridge, and two flyovers, with an additional 10 structures added later, extending the completion date for the entire stretch to 31 December.

NHAI Project Director Yogesh Tilak said most work between the Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur is complete. “We are targeting an opening by 31 August. Six flyovers have been built, with one pending due to a high-tension powerline relocation. Once opened, this road will reduce congestion on the existing route,” he stated. He added that surface-level work between Gurugram, Pataudi, and Rewari is largely complete, with only a few structures remaining.

The alternative route is expected to ease traffic for both passenger and commercial vehicles travelling to Pataudi and Farrukhnagar, while also improving accessibility for residents of 27 villages along the corridor. The new highway will connect to the Dwarka Expressway near Sector 88B via a flyover, enabling direct travel from Dwarka to Rewari and Pataudi without passing through the busy Hayatpur and Wazirpur chowks. From Pataudi and Rewari, commuters can use the underpass to reach NH48 or the surface road to head towards Basai and Dwarka.
