Deputy Chief Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Forest and Environment, K Pawan Kalyan, has instructed officials to fast-track road construction under the Adavi Thalli Bata initiative. The programme aims to provide road connectivity to 625 tribal habitations, many of which have remained inaccessible since Independence.

At a review meeting, officials reported that 186 road works are currently in progress, with 20 more at the tender stage undergoing technical evaluation. Of the 128 proposed roads in reserved forest areas, forest clearance has been secured for 98, marking notable advancement despite natural and logistical challenges.

Implemented in two phases at a cost of Rs 10.05 billion, the initiative is funded through the PM Jan Man Scheme, MGNREGS, and sub-plan allocations. Construction teams are contending with rocky terrain, steep gradients, and monsoon-related disruptions, requiring careful planning and execution.

During a Sunday teleconference with the Principal Secretary, Commissioner, and engineering officials from the Panchayat Raj Department, Pawan Kalyan called for biweekly reviews and regular progress reports to ensure timely completion. “We are building roads in areas that have never had connectivity before. Challenges must be overcome with proper planning. I will personally review pending forest clearance cases to speed up execution,” he said.
