PIL Filed in SC Over Frequent Bridge Collapses in Bihar

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court addressing the recurring issue of bridge collapses in Bihar. The PIL seeks urgent intervention and accountability from the state government and relevant authorities to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of the public.
The petitioner highlighted several instances of bridge collapses in recent years, causing significant disruption, economic loss, and posing a severe threat to human lives. The PIL argues that these frequent collapses are indicative of systemic flaws in construction practices, maintenance, and oversight by the authorities.
The plea calls for a thorough investigation into the causes of these collapses and demands stringent action against those found responsible for negligence or corruption. It also seeks directives for the implementation of robust quality control measures, regular inspections, and timely maintenance to prevent future occurrences.
The Supreme Court's intervention is deemed crucial to enforce accountability and prompt the state government to take corrective measures. The PIL also emphasizes the need for transparency in the allocation and utilization of funds earmarked for infrastructure projects, ensuring that public safety is not compromised.
This legal action reflects growing public concern over the integrity and reliability of infrastructure in Bihar, urging systemic reforms and better governance.
