PM Modi To Inaugurate UER-2 And Dwarka Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-2) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway on Saturday, 16 August. The new corridors are expected to dramatically reduce travel time between Noida and Indira Gandhi International Airport from over an hour to just 20 minutes.
What is UER-2?
UER-2, designed as Delhi’s new ‘Outer Ring Road,’ will enhance connectivity between the National Capital Region (NCR) cities of Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Rohtak, Jind and Bahadurgarh while offering direct airport access to several parts of Delhi. The road will have four to six lanes and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 80 billion. Starting from Alipur on the Delhi–Chandigarh Highway (NH-44), it passes through Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh and Dwarka before joining the Delhi–Jaipur Highway at Mahipalpur. It connects NH-9 and NH-48 within Delhi.
Currently, travellers from Noida must take the Ring Road or DND Flyway, pass Ashram Chowk and then continue via Dhaula Kuan or Mahipalpur to reach IGI Airport. The new road links will allow direct access to the Dwarka Expressway, bypassing traffic-heavy zones like Ring Road, AIIMS, Dhaula Kuan and NH-48.
The inauguration ceremony will take place near Dwarka on the expressway and will be attended by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and MPs and MLAs from across the NCR.
