The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has floated a Rs one point six four billion (Rs 1,640 mn) tender for the Chandni Chowk-Bhugaon road project, which will connect NDA at Chandni Chowk with Bhugaon. The authority has acquired nearly 80 per cent of the land required for the scheme, clearing a key hurdle for construction. The tender document outlines the main components and technical scope for the proposed works. It further identifies preliminary engineering requirements and statutory clearances that contractors must address.

The project will upgrade a two point two kilometre stretch between Chandni Chowk and Bhugaon and includes a 60 metre-wide flyover and a 70 metre-long bridge over the Ram River. The scheme also provides for a 430 metre underpass near the PVPIIT College junction and service roads on both sides of the flyover. Detailed alignment, earthworks and drainage provisions are included in the scope. Contract specifications encompass pavement design, structural works and drainage integration along the corridor.

The upgraded corridor is expected to strengthen connectivity between Pune and surrounding areas and to serve traffic moving from Mulshi towards the Konkan region. It will link the Pirangut industrial belt with Bhugaon, Bhukum and neighbouring villages and is intended to improve freight and commuter movement. Planners anticipate benefits to regional logistics as development expands along the route.
