PMRDA to commence land acquisition for inner ring road by March end
According to a PMRDA representative, the land will be purchased directly or in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act. “We will consider every possibility to expedite land acquisition along this area. For the next two to three months, we intend to finish the procedure,” the official added. In the first phase, the PMRDA would concentrate on 37 km of the route to address the city’s traffic issues. The official continued, “The survey for the first stretch is finished, and once the DPR is available, agencies will be assigned for carrying out the work.” By April, the DPR will be completed.
The three stretches from Nagar Road to the Mumbai Expressway, Nagar Road to Solapur Road, and Solapur Road to Satara Road will be finished in three to four years, according to the official. A total of 34 hectares of land will be purchased for the first 4.8 kilometres, of which 7 hectares are government land. The 11 km length from Nagar Road to Solapur will require the purchase of 78 hectares of land, including 5 hectares of public land. Officials have stated that the land will be purchased directly, through transferable development rights, floor space indexes, or through town planning initiatives.
The total amount of land acquired for the 21.23 km Solapur-Satara Road section will be 152 hectares, of which 4 hectares are government land. To relieve traffic congestion in the city, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation and the PMRDA, respectively, are building the outer and inner ring roads.
