RTI Reveals Rs. 169.09 bn Cost Escalation on Mumbai-Goa Highway

Seventeen years after the Centre approved the widening of National Highway 66 between Mumbai and Goa, a Right to Information reply has revealed a sharp increase in the sanctioned cost of the project. The sanctioned cost of 10 four-laning packages covering 355 km in Maharashtra has risen from Rs. 114.09 bn to Rs. 169.09 bn, an increase of about Rs. 55 bn or 48 per cent.
