Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been awarded a Rs 1.65 billion (Rs 165 crore) contract by the North Eastern Railway (NER) for the construction of a bridge substructure between Paniyahwa and Valmikinagar stations, as part of the doubling works on the Gorakhpur Cantt–Valmikinagar railway line.

The 95.95 km-long section connects Gorakhpur Cantt in Uttar Pradesh with Valmikinagar Road in Bihar and forms part of the NER zone of Indian Railways. The bridge will span the Gandak River, a key link in the regional connectivity network.

The project involves the construction of a substructure with a double ‘D’-type well foundation, designed to support a double railway line. The design will comply with Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) specifications for 25-tonne axle loads, suitable for heavy-duty rail operations.

The bridge project, valued at Rs 1.65 billion, is expected to be completed within 24 months, further strengthening RVNL’s growing portfolio in India’s railway infrastructure sector.

This latest win follows a series of successful project bids by RVNL. Recently, the company emerged as the lowest bidder for a Rs 1.44 billion (Rs 144 crore) contract for upgrading overhead electrification systems on the Ramgundam–Kazipet section under the South Central Railway.

In October 2025, RVNL also secured a Rs 400 million (Rs 40 crore) contract from Western Railway for the maintenance and repair of signalling and telecommunication systems in the Ahmedabad Division.

These projects underscore RVNL’s continued expansion across multiple railway zones, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading rail infrastructure developers.
