Seven-Km Pataudi Highway Bypass Opens 31 August

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that a seven-kilometre alternative stretch on the Pataudi Highway will become operational by 31 August. This under-construction segment is part of the Rs 9.5 billion, 46.1 km Pataudi Highway project, aimed at enhancing connectivity between Gurugram, Pataudi, and Rewari.
The existing Pataudi Road, which passes through Harsaru, Hayatpur, and Wazirpur, is plagued by chronic congestion, especially during peak hours. The new alignment will bypass these bottlenecks, offering faster and smoother travel for passenger and commercial vehicles. Traffic from Pataudi and Farrukhnagar is expected to shift to the new route, significantly easing pressure on the current corridor.
The full project includes 81 culverts, 23 vehicular underpasses, one railway overbridge, and two flyovers. Later additions, including 10 more structures, have extended the overall completion date to 31 December. According to NHAI Project Director Yogesh Tilak, most of the work between Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur is complete, with six flyovers finished and only one pending due to the relocation of a high-tension powerline. Remaining work is in the final stages.
Once completed, the highway will improve access to markets, schools, and hospitals for residents of 27 villages along the route. It will also serve as a crucial link for commercial traffic, reducing delays and enabling faster freight movement between Haryana’s industrial hubs. The highway will connect to the Dwarka Expressway near Sector 88B via a flyover, providing direct access from Dwarka to Rewari and Pataudi without passing through Hayatpur and Wazirpur chowks. Commuters will also have the option of using underpasses for NH48 or surface roads towards Basai and Dwarka.
