Target to build 60 km of highways per day

Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, stated that his goal is to build 60 km of highway per day. Gadkari went on to say that good road infrastructure generates prosperity and employment.

The country's National Highway (NH) construction rate reached a record 37 km per day in 2021-22, but it slowed to 28.64 km per day due to pandemic-related disruptions and a longer-than-usual monsoon in some parts of the country.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) are in charge of building national highways and expressways throughout the country.
