Telangana Gets Centre’s Approval for Major Road Projects
The approval includes a proposed elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar in Hyderabad’s eastern corridor. Reddy said the project was intended to address increasing traffic congestion in the rapidly developing area and improve movement along one of the city’s expanding routes.
The state government said the projects would help reduce congestion and travel times while strengthening links between rural areas and urban centres. The proposals cover several forms of transport infrastructure, including highway improvements, bridges, elevated roads and ropeways, with the aim of improving connectivity across Telangana.
Gadkari assured the delegation that the tendering process for National Highway 65 would be completed in November, with construction scheduled to begin in January 2027. He also accepted a proposal to lay the foundation stone for a cable-stayed bridge across the Krishna River on National Highway 167 K.
The proposed bridge, connecting Somasila and Sangameswar, is expected to strengthen road connectivity between the two Telugu states. State officials said it could shorten the route to Tirupati by around 80 km and reduce travel time by nearly three hours. The project is also expected to support tourism around the Somasila temple and become a prominent infrastructure landmark in Telangana.
