Three-Lane Link Planned from Shiv Murti to Ambience Mall

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a unidirectional, three-lane elevated corridor between the Dwarka Expressway tunnel near Shiv Murti and Ambience Mall on the Gurugram border. The project is intended to decongest the busy stretch between Mahipalpur and Ambience Mall, where traffic from several parts of Delhi and neighbouring regions converges.

The proposed corridor would begin at the right turn of the Dwarka Expressway tunnel and continue towards Gurugram. It is currently under evaluation by NHAI. Traffic emerging from the underpass would be directed on to the elevated route, while vehicles travelling on the NH-48 main carriageway would continue on the existing alignment without access to the proposed corridor.

According to the proposal, the structure’s piers would be placed in the existing NH-48 drain, between the main carriageway and the service road on the Delhi-to-Jaipur side. The elevated route would run parallel to the existing service lane. A down ramp would connect it to the approach of the existing Rajokri flyover, enabling traffic to reach the Delhi-to-Jaipur service road and destinations including Ambience Mall, Cyber City and Udyog Vihar.

For other destinations in Gurugram, the elevated corridor would continue and terminate along the main carriageway beyond Ambience Mall. NHAI officials have identified the Mahipalpur-Ambience Mall section as a major convergence point for traffic travelling from West and South Delhi, Sonipat, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

The authority has attributed severe congestion during morning and evening peak hours to the opening and integration of major road networks, including the Dwarka Expressway and UER-2. Elevated corridors have been planned on both sides of the stretch, while a future corridor between Jaipur and Delhi is also envisaged. An NHAI consultant’s report has said that the NH-48 main carriageway between Shiv Murti and the Haryana border requires capacity augmentation.
