The Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS) has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first contractor in Kerala to complete a six-lane national highway stretch. This remarkable accomplishment reflects the dedication, skill, and commitment of the Society’s engineers and workforce.

ULCCS expresses its sincere gratitude to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Kerala Public Works Department, and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, for their unwavering support throughout the project.

The Society undertook the construction of the northernmost stretch of the highway, from Thalappady to Chengala, delivering excellence in speed, quality, and execution. ULCCS’s outstanding performance on this landmark NHAI project was recognised with the Union Government’s Highway Excellence Award, a matter of immense pride.

Throughout the project, the team ensured minimal disruption to local residents and travellers, responding promptly and empathetically to concerns raised by the public.

• Project value: Rs 18 billion
• Construction period: December 2021 – June 2025
• Completion: 99 per cent by 30 June 2025

Infrastructure:

• 30 viaducts
• 4 major bridges and 4 minor bridges
• 9 underpasses
• 3 pedestrian overbridges
• Kerala’s tallest and widest single-pier flyover (27 meters wide, 1.12 km long)
• 35 km of service roads on both sides
• 78 km of drainage and retaining walls
• Safety and monitoring: 24-hour surveillance systems

This milestone not only strengthens Kerala’s road infrastructure but also sets a benchmark for quality, efficiency, and innovation in highway construction, reinforcing ULCCS’s position as a pioneer in large-scale infrastructure projects.
