Ashwini Bhide, IAS, has once more been given control over Line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) of the Mumbai Metro. Bhide has been given an extra responsibility to serve as the Managing Director of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) thanks to orders from the newly elected state government.

In Maharashtra, the Mumbai Metro was the BJP's pet project. When the Mahavikas Aghadi government took office in 2019, Ashwini Bhide was let go from her position as the project's Managing Director. She has once more been given the position of Line 3's manager by the Shinde administration.

Meanwhile, the issue of the metro car shed was discussed. She was replaced by the then Thackeray government due to Shiv Sena's opposition to the Metro carshed at Aarey, but discussions have been rife that the car shed will resume after her appointment.
