Tata Projects bags Rs 2,000 cr order from Chennai Metro Rail
On Wednesday, Tata Projects told the media that the project is a part of phase 2 of corridor 3 of the Chennai metro, and it falls between Venugopal Nagar and Kellys Station without revealing the order value.
The work includes the construction of the 9 km twin bored tunnels, from Venugopal Nagar to Kelly Station, summing up to 18km. The work should be completed in four years. A source from the company said that the project is for Rs 1,999 crore.
It also includes the construction of the diaphragm walls of the station box and entry/exit structures of the Madhavaram Milk Colony, Ayanavaram and Purasaiwakkam High Road stations, Murari Hospital, including launching and retrieval shafts as required at these stations.
The vice-president and head of metros and tunnels business unit at Tata Projects, Raman Kapil, told the media that they had received the letter of acceptance from the Chennai Metro authorities.
Tata Projects is also implementing the underground metro projects in Pune and Mumbai and has already completed Lucknow Metro's underground section. Tata Projects works through its four vital business groups, core infra, industrial systems, services unit and urban infra.
The company takes turnkey projects for power transmission and distribution systems, commercial buildings and airports, chemical plants, power generation companies, and fully integrated rail and metro systems.
