To enhance commuter safety and strengthen security infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned 46 new posts from the 5th Battalion of the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF), Saharanpur, for deployment across 21 metro stations on the Noida–Greater Noida Metro Rail Corridor.
According to an order issued by Mahendra Singh, Special Secretary (Home Department, Section-6), the decision follows a proposal submitted by the Additional Director General (ADG), UPSSF, in response to the growing security requirements across metro and transport hubs in the region.
The sanctioned posts include one assistant commandant, three sub-inspectors, six head constables, and 36 constables. The force will be tasked exclusively with maintaining robust, round-the-clock security at metro stations along the corridor.
The order also highlighted that the 5th Battalion of the UPSSF is already responsible for security at the Noida–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS corridor, as well as at Hindon and Saharanpur airports. Additional deployment for the upcoming fourth section of the RRTS network is under consideration.
Officials noted that reserving these dedicated posts was essential to ensure operational efficiency, morale, and welfare among security personnel. The move underscores the state government’s commitment to providing a secure and passenger-friendly metro environment in one of the NCR’s fastest-growing transit corridors.
