Agartala-Bangladesh Rail Link will commence by this year

Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, announced that rail communication with Bangladesh will commence from Agartala this year. He mentioned that significant changes have occurred in the North Eastern states since Narendra Modi assumed office as the Prime Minister in 2014.

The Chief Minister highlighted the remarkable development in the region due to the diligent efforts of Prime Minister Modi, particularly in enhancing rail connectivity within Tripura and internationally. The plan to establish rail communication with Bangladesh through Agartala is on track, potentially allowing travel from Agartala to Kolkata within a mere 10 hours. The modernisation of Agartala railway station has been allotted more than Rs 2.35 million to facilitate this development, as expressed during the foundation stone-laying event for the re-development of Udaipur Railway Station.

Funding from the central government has been allocated for the modernisation of three railway stations in Tripura: Udaipur Railway Station, Kumarghat Railway Station, and Dharmanagar Railway Station.
