Bengaluru Metro Proposes Hebbal-Sarjapur Corridor, Seeks State Approval
The DPR outlines plans for a metro corridor linking Hebbal in northern Bengaluru to Sarjapur in the southeast, spanning approximately 35 kilometres. This expansion is expected to cater to the growing commuter demand in these densely populated areas and promote sustainable urban mobility solutions.
Upon receiving government approval, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will proceed with detailed design and construction planning for the Hebbal-Sarjapur corridor. The project is envisioned to integrate seamlessly with existing metro lines, providing commuters with a reliable and efficient alternative to road transport.
The Hebbal-Sarjapur metro corridor is anticipated to enhance accessibility to educational institutions, IT parks, residential areas, and commercial hubs along its route. It aims to reduce travel time, air pollution, and fuel consumption, contributing to Bengaluru's efforts towards eco-friendly urban transport infrastructure.
As Bengaluru Metro advances its expansion plans, stakeholders anticipate positive socio-economic impacts, including improved mobility, enhanced property values, and increased economic activities along the Hebbal-Sarjapur corridor. The metro project aligns with Karnataka's vision for sustainable development and inclusive growth in Bengaluru metropolitan region.
