Bhuj Delhi Direct Rail Service Inaugurated by Gujarat CM

The Gujarat chief minister inaugurated a direct Bhuj to New Delhi express service from Gandhinagar, while the Union railway minister participated virtually from Pali, Rajasthan. The new Bhuj-Delhi Express establishes direct rail connectivity between Kutch and New Delhi and was flagged off at Bhuj Railway Station in the presence of local officials and citizens. The flagging off ceremony included the minister of state, a member of parliament, members of the legislative assembly and senior railway officials.

The chief minister said Indian Railways is a vital link in the nation's transportation network and that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the railways have undergone large-scale transformation over the past twelve years. He highlighted the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project as a landmark of the modern railway revolution and noted that the largest stretch of the project, 348 kilometres, is being constructed in Gujarat. Since 2014, nearly 2,900 kilometres of new railway tracks have been laid in the state, and various railway projects worth Rs 1.28 trillion (Rs 1.28 tn) are currently underway.

He noted that Gujarat has received 29 per cent higher allocation in this year’s Railway Budget, amounting to Rs 17,366 crore, which converts to Rs 173.66 billion (Rs 173.66 bn). The chief minister attributed further improvements to central initiatives that have delivered five Vande Bharat trains, one Amrit Bharat service and one Namo Bharat train to the state. He added that enhanced connectivity now enables passengers to reach Ekta Nagar and the Statue of Unity more conveniently.

The chief minister expressed confidence that the current period of national development will impart new momentum to the railways and contribute to a developed India. The inauguration was presented as part of wider efforts to accelerate network expansion and improve passenger convenience across Gujarat. Local representatives and senior railway officials attended the ceremony at Bhuj alongside residents who will directly benefit from the new service.
