In its Clive (Kolkata) Works, Braithwaite & Co (BCL) planned, developed, and manufactured the new BLSS Wagons (Spine Cars). The new BLSS Wagons (Spine Cars) are specialised 25T axle load flat cars designed to transport intermodal containers and trailers. They are designed to transport all types of containers, providing greater transportation options. The BLSS Wagon design is lean, with a sturdy and lighter frame. As a result, the rake's carrying capacity would improve by 7.4%, making it more commercially advantageous.

The first rake of newly built BLSS Wagons was flagged off on March 5, 2023, from its Clive (Kolkata) Works by Sanjiv Garg, MD, Pipavav Railway Corporation (PRCL), Saurav Sood, President & MD, GATX India; Jitendra Kapoor, Head Surface Transport and Trucking-South Asia, AP Moller-Maersk Line India; and Yatish Kumar, CMD, Braithwaite & Co.

The event was also attended by Rajiv Kumar Kochhar, Advisor (Logistics)-PRCL, Nitin Kulshrestha, Sr. Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, GATX India, Salim G Purushothaman, Director (Production)-BCL, and Kalyan Kumar Coari, Director (Finance)-BCL. Top management executives and Braithwaite & Co staff also attended the flag-off ceremony.

This consignment is for M/s. Pipavav Railway Corporation through GATX India. The new BLSS Wagon is yet another colourful feather in its products range and proves technical capabilities of the highest standards in Railways Sector.
