The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved four major railway projects worth Rs 246.34 million. These include the Bhusaval-Wardha 3rd and 4th line, Gondia-Dongargarh 4th line, Vadodara-Ratlam 3rd and 4th line, and Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina 4th line. These four multi-tracking projects will span 18 districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh, adding approximately 894 kilometres to the Indian Railways network.

The 314-km Bhusaval-Wardha rail line will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 91,970 million and is expected to be completed in five years. The 84-kilometre Gondia-Dongargarh 4th line will be finished within five years at a cost of Rs 222.3 million. The 259-kilometre Vadodara-Ratlam 3rd and 4th line will cover Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, costing Rs 888.5 million. Lastly, the 237-kilometre Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina 4th line will be constructed at Rs 432.9 million.

The Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina route is crucial for transporting essential goods like coal, containers, cement, fly ash, food grains, and steel. These projects aim to improve transportation efficiency and increase rail network capacity, benefiting industries and communities across the region.
