Centre Clears Rs 33.75 Bn Rail Projects for Kutch

The Union Cabinet has approved a series of key railway projects in Kutch, Gujarat, with a total outlay of Rs 33.75 billion. The initiatives aim to improve regional connectivity, enhance freight movement and support the rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem in the district.
The approved works include doubling of vital rail sections, capacity enhancement measures and development of supporting infrastructure to enable smoother and faster operations. The projects are expected to significantly strengthen the rail network in the region, which serves major industrial hubs, ports and logistics corridors along the western coastline.
Government officials noted that the upgrades will improve line capacity, reduce congestion and allow for increased train frequency, ultimately benefiting both passenger and freight traffic. The improved connectivity is also expected to boost economic activity in Kutch by facilitating seamless movement of raw materials and finished goods.
The Cabinet approval forms part of a wider national push to modernise railway infrastructure and expand high-capacity routes across the country.
