Chennai Metro Phase Two Track Contract Awarded To Pee Pee Mandal
The scope includes balance works of supply, installation, testing and commissioning of track works of standard gauge and all associated works in the underground and elevated sections between Lighthouse and Poonamallee Bypass under the C4 TRK 01 package. The works encompass rail laying, sleeper installation, fastening systems and track formation, together with necessary interfaces to civil structures and drainage and utility arrangements. The package is intended to ensure continuity of the track system across differing alignments.
Pee Pee Mandal Projects was the lowest bidder and has been awarded the contract while Avadh Rail Infra Limited was accepted in the financial evaluation stage. The contractor will be required to coordinate with project authorities and other contractors working on civil, signalling and electrification interfaces to align delivery schedules. Ircon will oversee performance and compliance with technical specifications during the contract period.
The contract forms part of the Phase two expansion which will add 118.9 km of new metro network across three corridors in Chennai. Corridor four, also known as the Yellow Line, will connect Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass and will span 26.1 km, including 16 km underground and 10.1 km elevated, with 28 metro stations that link key residential, commercial and employment areas. The track work award is intended to advance completion of this corridor within the broader expansion programme.
