Congress pledges railway infrastructure overhaul in manifesto

The Congress party announced in its manifesto for the upcoming polls a pledge to enhance the Indian Railways, ensuring that trains and stations cater to the needs of the common people and commuters while modernising the outdated railway infrastructure. The Indian National Congress unveiled its election manifesto, Nyay Patra, for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In the manifesto, it was stated that the railway services and facilities catering to the poor and middle classes would be sustained. Additionally, an urban employment program would be initiated, ensuring work for the urban poor in the reconstruction and renewal of urban infrastructure.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that the party would evaluate the infrastructure deficit in the North Eastern states and allocate more funds for infrastructure development. It was emphasised that attracting private capital to create public assets and infrastructure was crucial.

The manifesto also highlighted the challenges posed by changes in the global economy, advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and machine learning, as well as climate change. The future energy focus would be on Green Energy, with plans to mobilise significant capital for the transition.
