Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Delhi–Faridabad Metro Line, which is expected to allow hassle-free travel for around zero point two mn daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub in Haryana. The extension links Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad and is intended to strengthen regional transit options. Authorities indicated that the new link is expected to relieve pressure on road networks and improve travel reliability for commuters. The inauguration was presented as a milestone for commuter convenience and regional integration.

The total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar is nearly Rs 25 bn. The Haryana government is reported to have borne Rs 15.57 bn of the expenditure while the Centre contributed Rs 5.37 bn and Delhi Metro provided Rs 4 bn. Officials said the allocation reflects multi-party funding to support urban transit infrastructure and to expedite delivery. Observers noted that the funding mix is intended to balance local and central responsibilities for metropolitan connectivity.

The nine stations in this section include Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. All these stations are elevated and are located on either side of the Delhi–Mathura Road (NH–2), which facilitates access from adjacent urban areas. The corridor has been designed to integrate with existing road networks and to support passenger flows while reducing surface congestion. Planners emphasised that elevated alignment can offer resilience against flood related disruptions and can speed up station construction.

A Haryana government spokesperson said the nine-station corridor was 95 per cent indigenously built and would provide a safe, affordable and sustainable transport facility. The project was expected to lower vehicular emissions and encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transit. Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar thanked the Prime Minister and said the service would raise the city with better connectivity to other National Capital Region towns and that the Prime Minister was expected to announce a go-ahead for connecting Gurgaon with Faridabad.
