Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Delhi-Faridabad metro extension that connects Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar and is expected to enable around 0.2 million (0.2 mn) daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub in Haryana. The extension is designed to ease travel and integrate Faridabad more closely with the national capital region. The service was inaugurated following completion of the elevated corridor.

The total cost of the Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar section was approximately Rs 25 billion (Rs 25 bn). The Haryana government met Rs 1,557 crore of the cost, equivalent to about Rs 15.57 billion (Rs 15.57 bn), the Centre contributed Rs 537 crore, about Rs 5.37 billion (Rs 5.37 bn), while Delhi Metro provided Rs 400 crore, equivalent to Rs 4 billion (Rs 4 bn). Financial responsibilities were shared to ensure timely completion.

The section comprises nine stations: Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar. All stations are elevated and run on either side of Delhi-Mathura Road (NH-2). The alignment was planned to serve densely populated corridors and industrial areas.

A Haryana government spokesperson said the corridor was 95 per cent indigenously built and would provide a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment-friendly and sustainable transport facility. Authorities highlighted the corridor's potential to reduce road congestion and improve connectivity to other towns in the national capital region. Operational readiness followed final safety and signalling checks.

Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and described the Metro service as a catalyst for the city's progress. He also indicated that the Prime Minister was expected to announce the go-ahead for linking Gurgaon with Faridabad by metro, signalling further expansion of the regional network. Officials noted that such extensions would support economic activity and commuter convenience.
