Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Delhi–Faridabad metro line, which will enable hassle free travel for 0.2 mn daily commuters between the national capital and the industrial hub of Faridabad in Haryana. The extension links Badarpur with Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad and is expected to improve connectivity for commuters travelling across the National Capital Region (NCR). Authorities described the corridor as a strategic link that integrates suburban trips with the wider metro network.

The total cost of the project from Badarpur to Escorts Mujesar is Rs 25 bn, with the value expressed in billion (bn) on first mention. The Haryana Government met Rs 15.57 bn of the expenditure, the central government contributed Rs 5.37 bn and the Delhi Metro provided Rs 4 bn, according to official accounts. Funding allocations were presented as part of project documentation released at the inauguration.

The nine stations on the section are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar, all of which are elevated and located on either side of the Delhi–Mathura Road (NH?2). Station design and alignment were described as catering to high passenger throughput and seamless interchange with feeder services. Project planners signalled that the infrastructure follows standards for safety, accessibility and sustainable operation.

A Haryana government spokesperson said the corridor was 95 per cent indigenously built and would provide a safe, affordable, quick, comfortable, reliable, environment-friendly and sustainable transport facility. Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar expressed gratitude for the new service and indicated that the Prime Minister would announce a go ahead for a metro link connecting Gurgaon with Faridabad. Officials stated that the development is expected to support integrated growth across NCR towns.
