Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu (LG) emphasised the need to strengthen last-mile connectivity for Metro commuters after travelling on the Delhi Metro and reviewing developments with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). He met the managing director of the DMRC at Lok Niwas and received a briefing on network progress and expansion in the national capital. The visit included interactions with fellow residents which the LG used to assess passenger experience and convenience.

The LG underlined the importance of improving links from Metro stations to nearby residential and commercial areas to enhance convenience and accessibility for commuters. He stressed that better integration of feeder services and local transport options would help increase Metro ridership and make daily travel smoother for residents. Officials at the meeting outlined ongoing initiatives to strengthen the network and its associated services.

Sandhu said the Delhi Metro stands as a strong example of how efficient and well-functioning public transport can help address several urban challenges, and he urged sustained efforts to build on that foundation. He recommended closer coordination among the DMRC, municipal bodies and transport agencies to ensure that feeder systems are reliable and affordable. The discussion highlighted that improved last-mile solutions can reduce road congestion, shorten journey times and enhance accessibility for vulnerable groups.

The LG suggested that enhancing multimodal connectivity and prioritising commuter comfort could support higher public transport use and long-term urban sustainability. He asked officials to expedite plans for feeder integration while continuing network expansion and technological upgrades. The meeting concluded with a commitment to monitor progress and implement measures to make daily travel in the city even more convenient and seamless.
