Delhi Metro Closes 16 Stations Over Security Concerns
The closed stations comprise Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Shivaji Stadium. The DMRC indicated that interchange facility will remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat to facilitate connections. Commuters travelling to or through the central area were urged to plan alternative routes. The list covers several key corridors and central landmarks.
The suspension affected multiple lines that serve central administrative and commercial districts, reducing direct station access and increasing reliance on available interchange points. The DMRC reiterated that the closures would remain until further instructions and that updates would be posted on official channels. Station staff were reported to be providing rerouting information to passengers and assisting with connections to minimise inconvenience.
Moneycontrol reported the development and gave the first published time as 12:08 pm on 22 July 2026. The DMRC's post on X was the principal public advisory referenced in the report. Passengers were advised to check official DMRC channels and reliable news updates for the latest information and to expect service changes until authorities confirm a resumption, and to allow additional time for journeys.
