Delhi Metro Phase 4: New Corridors Announced

Delhi Metro is set to embark on a new phase of expansion with the construction of two new corridors under Phase 4. This ambitious project aims to further enhance connectivity across the capital, easing the daily commute for millions of residents. The two proposed corridors, Aerocity to Tughlakabad and Majlis Park to Maujpur, are poised to become vital arteries of Delhi's public transport network, linking key residential, commercial, and industrial areas. With an estimated cost of over ?1 billion, this undertaking signifies a significant investment in modernising and expanding Delhi's transportation infrastructure.

The Aerocity to Tughlakabad corridor is expected to cover approximately 20 kilometres, connecting important hubs such as Aerocity, Vasant Kunj, Saket, and Nehru Place, among others. Meanwhile, the Majlis Park to Maujpur corridor will stretch over 12 kilometres, facilitating seamless travel between north and east Delhi.

These new corridors are anticipated to not only alleviate traffic congestion but also promote sustainable mobility solutions, encouraging more people to opt for public transport. Additionally, the expansion of the Delhi Metro is poised to boost economic growth by improving accessibility to commercial areas and stimulating development along the metro corridors.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is gearing up to commence construction on these corridors, with preliminary groundwork expected to begin soon. Once operational, these corridors are projected to cater to millions of passengers daily, further solidifying Delhi's position as a global metropolis with a world-class transportation system.

As Delhi looks towards the future, the Phase 4 expansion of the Delhi Metro represents a significant milestone in the city's journey towards enhanced connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
