The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has awarded two contracts to strengthen and maintain firefighting systems across its metro network, ensuring enhanced safety for commuters and staff.
The first contract covers maintenance along Line 7 (Majlis Park to Sarai Kale Khan–Nizamuddin) and includes the Mukundpur depot, Mukundpur staff quarters, and RSS buildings at Majlis Park, Dhaula Kuan, and INA.
The second contract, worth Rs 9.6 million, pertains to Line 2 North, stretching from Central Secretariat to Samaypur Badli, including Khyberpass depot, Badli depot, and associated facilities.
According to DMRC, the contracts involve checking, cleaning, testing, and replacement of firefighting equipment, as well as monitoring pipelines, sprinklers, hydrants, alarms, and other critical components. These systems are crucial for emergency preparedness in case of fire outbreaks.
With lakhs of commuters relying on the Delhi Metro daily, officials emphasised that maintaining firefighting infrastructure in optimal condition is a key part of operational safety. DMRC routinely conducts inspections and preventive maintenance across stations, depots, sub-stations, control rooms, and staff quarters.
The corporation has periodically awarded similar contracts to ensure compliance with fire safety norms and uninterrupted services, particularly after recent signalling-related delays on some lines.
