According to GDA officials, DMRC’s proposal includes extensions on both the Red and Blue lines.

“We have received communication from DMRC requesting in-principle approval from GDA for preparation of DPRs for four Metro extensions in Ghaziabad. The authority is reviewing the details and will provide the required approvals soon,” said Rudresh Shukla, Media Coordinator, GDA. DMRC has confirmed the communication.
The DPR preparation cost for all four proposed routes will be fully funded by the central government, DMRC noted in its letter.
Plans for two of these routes—Noida Sector 62 to Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar to Vaishali—have been under discussion since 2020. DMRC had submitted DPRs in January 2020, with an estimated cost of Rs 15.17 billion for the Noida-Sahibabad corridor and Rs 1,808.22 crore for the Mohan Nagar-Vaishali stretch. GDA later decided to proceed only with the Sahibabad route. A revised estimate of Rs 1,873.31 crore was submitted by DMRC in January 2024.
Currently, DMRC operates a 352.236 km network in Delhi-NCR, with 110.617 km under construction under Phase 4. The proposed Ghaziabad extensions form a key part of Phase 5.
