DRA-Siemens JV Wins Rs 41.4 Billion Bullet Train Contract
A consortium of Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon (DRA Infra) and Germany-based Siemens has secured a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) to implement the signalling and telecommunication system under Package MAHSR-S-1 of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project.
The contract, valued at Rs 41.4 billion, entails end-to-end design, manufacturing, supply, installation, system integration, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of the high-speed rail’s signalling and train control systems, telecommunication infrastructure, and operations control centre.
The tender for the package was floated in January 2025 with a seven-year completion deadline. Technical bids opened on 30 April, with two contenders participating. Technical evaluations concluded on 14 May, and financial bids were assessed on 9 June 2025, with the DRA Infra–Siemens JV emerging as the successful bidder.
This critical systems contract is a key component of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, India’s first bullet train initiative. The implementation of advanced signalling and communication technologies is expected to ensure seamless operations, enhanced safety, and reliable train control, aligning with global high-speed rail standards.
The award further strengthens Siemens’ presence in Indian railway modernisation efforts and highlights DRA Infra’s growing expertise in executing complex infrastructure projects in collaboration with global partners.
