Eastern Railways Saves Rs.120 Bn in Q1 on Electrical Energy
Eastern Railways has achieved a significant milestone by saving Rs.120 billion in electrical energy costs during the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year. This accomplishment is a result of implementing various energy-saving measures and optimising resource utilisation across its operations.
The savings were primarily driven by the adoption of energy-efficient technologies, improved maintenance practices, and strategic planning. Key initiatives included the installation of LED lighting, the use of energy-efficient pumps and motors, and regular energy audits to identify and address inefficiencies.
The Eastern Railways' proactive approach to energy management not only resulted in substantial cost savings but also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions.
This aligns with the Indian Railways' broader goal of enhancing energy efficiency and promoting green practices within the railway network. Senior officials of Eastern Railways have credited the success to the dedicated efforts of the staff and the effective implementation of the energy-saving strategies.
Training programs and awareness campaigns were conducted to ensure that all employees were aligned with the energy conservation goals.
