ECoR GM Inspects Key Projects in Western Odisha

East Coast Railway General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal conducted a detailed inspection on Saturday of major infrastructure and traffic-related projects along the Sambalpur–Jharsuguda rail section in western Odisha. The review covered stations at Jharsuguda Road, Brundamal, Lapanga, and Sarla, focusing on works supporting industrial growth in the region.

Among the key projects inspected were the BPSL siding at Lapanga, MAVB siding at Brundamal, Jharsuguda Road station, the Brundamal–Jharsuguda flyover, and the recently commissioned freight examination and overhauling facility at Sarla. The new Sarla depot is expected to examine 90–100 trains and complete 100 routine overhauls of wagons monthly, reducing turnaround time for BTAP wagons by 30 per cent and boosting both capacity and safety in freight operations.

Divisional Railway Manager Subash C Chaudhary and other senior officials were also present during the inspection.
