The Chennai Metro's Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) IT corridor will be upgraded via development. On the OMR IT corridor between Taramani and Sholinganallur, the construction of ten elevated metro stations has officially begun. By the following year, this 10 km section of the 45.4 km Corridor-3?which runs from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot?should be finished. The pillars for the new stations, which will be situated beneath the bridge beneath which the rails will travel, are now being constructed. Additionally, land is being purchased for the station's entrances and exits. According to a CMRL official, the project is moving quickly. Out of the 449 pillars needed, 191 have already been built. Additionally, 65 of the 450 'U' girders, which will support the tracks, have been installed. The elevated line will be constructed at a height ranging from 13m to 24m in the centre of the road. The official said that station construction is expected to begin in June, just before the southwest monsoon starts. They also said that 136 of the 450 'U' girders needed for this stretch have already been completed. CMRL Managing Director, M A Siddique, previously announced that the first part of the 116.1km phase-2 will open in 2025, with the final segment set to open in 2028. The IT corridor on OMR will be linked by a 20-km elevated line from Taramani Metro to Siruseri Sipcot, divided into two sections.
