Fujitec Wins Rs 4.54 Billion Escalator Deal For Chennai Metro

Fujitec India has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for supplying escalators under Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro, specifically for Corridor 3.

CMRL issued the tender with a completion deadline of 2,070 days. Technical bids were opened on 6 November 2024, with only one bidder participating. The technical evaluation was concluded on 5 June 2025, followed by the opening of financial bids on 6 June 2025. Financial evaluation took place on 27 November, during which Fujitec India was declared the lowest bidder and subsequently awarded the LoA.

Fujitec India’s winning bid stands at Rs 4.536 billion.

Scope of Work The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of heavy-duty escalators and travelators for Phase 2’s Corridor 3, running from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur Metro stations.

Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro spans 118.9 kilometres and includes three new corridors:

Line 3 (Purple Line): 45.8 km (19.1 km elevated; 26.7 km underground)

Line 4 (Orange Line): 26.1 km (16 km elevated; 10.1 km underground)

Line 5 (Red Line): 47 km (41.2 km elevated; 5.8 km underground)
