In a significant development, the full trial run of the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express, which is set to become Odisha's second such high-speed train, was successfully completed, according to officials. The train embarked on its journey from Puri station at 5 a.m., making a brief stop at Bhubaneswar at 6.05 a.m. before continuing its onward journey. It made additional halts at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Angul, eventually arriving in Sambalpur at 10.15 a.m. The train was originally scheduled to reach its final destination, Rourkela, by 12.45 p.m.

Previously, a trial run had taken place between Puri and Talcher Road stations. On its return journey, the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to depart from Rourkela at 2.10 pm and is expected to arrive in Puri at 9.40 pm, covering the distance in a commendable 7.5 hours, as confirmed by officials.

Sunil Kayal, President of the Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI), expressed enthusiasm, stating, "This is a historic moment for Rourkela. First, we got a flight, and now, the Vande Bharat Express. Rourkela's connectivity is getting enhanced, and this is beneficial for all." This development is poised to significantly enhance transportation options and connectivity in the region, contributing to its economic and infrastructural growth.
