Hafizpet Railway Station is undergoing a major transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), with redevelopment works close to completion at a cost of Rs 292 million. The initiative forms part of Indian Railways’ plan to modernise 40 stations across Telangana at a total outlay of Rs 27.52 billion, aimed at enhancing passenger amenities and meeting world-class standards.

Classified as Suburban Grade-3 (SG-3), Hafizpet is a key station in the Hyderabad–Secunderabad suburban corridor, serving nearly 9,000 passengers daily. About 60 MMTS trains and eight express services halt here, and its proximity to IT corridors in western Hyderabad has made it a vital suburban hub.

Redevelopment plans include upgrades to the station building, circulating area, platform shelters, and construction of a 12-metre wide foot overbridge with two lifts and two escalators. The project also covers new waiting halls, toilet blocks, and resurfaced platforms. Officials confirmed that major civil works such as platform shelters and circulating areas are already complete, while façade lighting, signage, lifts, and escalators are in their final stages. The project is expected to be fully complete within one to two months.
