Haryana's metro network registered a 13.55 per cent rise in ridership in 2025-26, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation said after its 64th board meeting chaired by the chief secretary. Between April 2025 and February 2026 the network carried 17.4 mn passengers compared with 15.3 mn in the same period a year earlier. July recorded the highest monthly growth at 22.93 per cent.

Fare revenue rose 12.64 per cent up to January 2026 while non fare revenue increased by 108 per cent. The rise in non fare income was linked to monetisation of station spaces, advertisements and commercial activities and produced an operating surplus for Rapid Metro. Planned auctions of station naming rights and more advertisement sites are expected to strengthen finances.

The chief secretary said the steady rise in ridership and revenue showed the success of an integrated transport strategy and growing commuter confidence. Officials said improved services and commercial initiatives supported the shift to public transport.

The managing director said the state is advancing a pipeline of metro and regional transit projects. Metro connectivity from Gurugram Sector 56 to Panchgaon is under consideration, with HSIIDC studying the detailed project report and layout plan and finalising a depot location in Sector 36A near Sihi village. The Gurugram Faridabad Namo Bharat corridor has finalised alignment and station locations and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation is preparing the detailed project report.

A Delhi Kundli metro extension is proposed to be placed before the Haryana Cabinet while the 136.3 kilometre Delhi Panipat Karnal regional rapid transit corridor has a revised detailed project report submitted for financial concurrence. Within Gurugram detailed project report preparation has been approved for intra city corridors, including a 17.09 kilometre Bhondsi Subhash Chowk Rajeev Chowk Sohna Chowk Railway Station corridor. These projects aim to enhance connectivity along Sohna Road and sustain demand for public transit.
