The Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPNL) has floated a tender to shift 2 66 kV power line bays, a capacitor bank and associated equipment at its Sector 33 substation. The work is intended to clear about 300 square metres of land for the proposed Gurugram Metro Rail depot.

The tender estimates the work at Rs. 3.7 mn, with completion scheduled within 150 days of the work order being issued. The land is required by Gurugram Metro Rail for construction of the depot and will be transferred under government directions.

The proposed depot will be developed on a 47-acre plot in Sector 33. Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is to transfer the land to Gurugram Metro Rail on a permanent lease at a nominal rent of Rs. 1 per square metre, with the monthly payment estimated at about Rs. 0.19 mn.

HSVP has sought adequate space in the proposed metro building and ownership of half of the structure. The agency has also demolished 61 shops in the marble market and relocated the market, as part of preparations linked to the depot site.

Gurugram Metro Rail had floated a Rs. 4.09 bn tender for the depot on June 16. The opening deadline was extended from July 22 to August 5, while the depot tender is currently under review by higher authorities in Chandigarh and is likely to be floated within a month.
