The discussions were co-chaired by Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary for Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides reviewed ongoing initiatives covering political and strategic cooperation, trade and investment, energy, defence, maritime affairs, digital collaboration, education, culture and people-to-people ties.
The implementation of the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was also included in the discussions. The agreement is part of efforts by both countries to expand commercial engagement and provide a broader framework for cooperation in trade and investment.
India and Oman exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual interest, with particular attention to regional security, maritime security and developments linked to the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is strategically important for energy shipments and broader commercial connectivity, making security conditions in the surrounding region a matter of concern for both countries.
The meeting underscored the strengthening strategic partnership between India and Oman in recent years. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across sectors and maintaining consultations on regional developments, maritime affairs and other shared interests. The latest round forms part of regular institutional engagement between the two countries as they pursue closer ties in political, economic, defence and cultural areas.
