Indian Railways deploys drones for coach cleaning

Indian Railways has introduced drone-based cleaning technology at Assam’s Kamakhya Station, as per news reports. The system uses drones equipped with high-pressure water jets to clean coach rooftops and other hard-to-reach surfaces, aiming to improve hygiene and reduce manual labour. Launched as a pilot in April, this automated solution enhances operational efficiency and safety. The drones also spray disinfectants, replacing conventional methods that involved safety risks. Previously used for monitoring and inspections, drones are now being explored for broader maintenance tasks.
