Indian Railways, DMRC, CRIS Collaborate on Unified Ticketing

In a significant move towards enhancing passenger convenience, Indian Railways, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have joined forces to promote the 'One India, One Ticket' initiative. This collaboration aims to create a unified ticketing system, enabling seamless travel across various modes of transport in the country.

The new system seeks to integrate ticketing for Indian Railways, metro services, and other public transport systems, offering passengers a hassle-free travel experience. This initiative is expected to reduce the need for multiple tickets and simplify the journey for commuters, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

The collaborative effort will leverage CRIS's expertise in railway information systems and DMRC's experience in metro operations to develop and implement this unified ticketing platform. The integrated system will facilitate digital ticketing, enabling passengers to book tickets through a single platform for various modes of transport, thus enhancing the overall travel experience.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, emphasised the importance of this initiative in achieving the vision of a more connected and efficient transportation network. He highlighted that the 'One India, One Ticket' system would significantly contribute to the ease of living for citizens, aligning with the government's digital transformation goals.

The collaboration is also expected to promote the use of public transport, thereby reducing traffic congestion and pollution. By offering a more convenient and integrated travel solution, the initiative aims to encourage more people to opt for public transportation.

This unified ticketing system marks a significant step towards modernising India's transportation infrastructure, ensuring a seamless and efficient travel experience for millions of passengers across the country.
