Prime Minister will inaugurate two new metro corridors and lay foundation stones for three more under Delhi Metro Phase-V (A), creating the country’s first fully operational Ring Metro in the capital. The openings will include a Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur section on the Pink Line and a Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park extension on the Magenta Line. The Chief Minister said the works aim to improve public transport.

The Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur corridor is 12.3 km long and will have 10 stations, of which eight will be elevated. It connects with the existing Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar stretch and will increase the Pink Line to about 71.56 km. The section required a new bridge over the Yamuna and a double-decker viaduct integrating a metro track and a flyover.

The Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park segment on the Magenta Line spans 9.92 km and includes seven elevated stations. It extends the Botanical Garden to Krishna Park section and will raise the Magenta Line to about 49 km. Officials noted part of the corridor reaches approximately 28.36 metres, making it among the highest elevated sections in the network.

The inaugural function will be held at DDA Utsav Sthal-3 opposite Nirankari Mandal, where the Prime Minister will preside. In addition to openings, foundation stones will be laid for three corridors including the Central Vista corridor and extensions of the Golden Line. Authorities said the projects will improve multimodal connectivity across the city and to neighbouring National Capital Region towns.

The Central Vista corridor will be an underground 9.913 km link with 10 stations serving Kartavya Bhavan, Bharat Mandapam and the Yuge-Yugeen Bharat Museum. The Golden Line extensions will add a 2.263 km underground link to Terminal-1 and a 3.9 km elevated stretch to Kalindi Kunj. The estimated cost is Rs 183 billion (Rs 183 bn).
