IRCTC Allows E-Ticket Booking for Others with Different Surnames

In a significant update, IRCTC has revised its policy to permit account holders to book electronic tickets for individuals with different surnames. This adjustment aims to simplify the booking process for passengers, particularly those travelling with family members or companions who do not share the same last name.

Previously, IRCTC's system required passengers to share the same surname when booking tickets electronically through a single account. This requirement often posed challenges for travellers, especially in cases involving diverse family structures or groups with varying surnames.

With the new flexibility, account holders can now seamlessly make reservations for others, regardless of surname differences, using their IRCTC accounts. This change is expected to enhance convenience and accessibility for passengers, aligning with evolving travel needs and preferences across India's extensive railway network.

IRCTC's decision reflects a proactive approach to accommodate diverse passenger demographics and simplify the ticketing process, thereby improving customer satisfaction. The adjustment is likely to streamline travel planning for families, friends, and groups, ensuring smoother journeys and reducing procedural complexities associated with booking railway tickets.

The updated policy is effective immediately, offering greater flexibility and convenience to millions of passengers who rely on IRCTC for their travel bookings.
